We-Resonate Saving Water, The New Luxury and Ethical Fashion.

water droplet in dried up leaf

I can’t believe I took this photo, but I can make saving water a reason not to buy NEW (ok, don't freak out, less NEW).

How precious is this water drop! Contrast with the monster of... Industrial water pollution (20% made by the fashion industry) which is affecting people, planet and profit. We all try to turn the tap off whilst brushing our teeth (right?) but it's the water used in the production of our clothes that's making a huge, horrible, impact.

Whilst working in this industry, that's an even harder fact to swallow, so when the opportunity came it was a trigger for me to start a clothing line that addresses this. I feel so passionate about using existing fabrics because we don't need to produce all these new ones. Existing garments are in abundance (times your wardrobe by at least 1.6 billion - # of people in the developed world). A lot of these pieces are becoming The New Luxury, The Renewed Luxe, The Exclusive, One of a Kind and We-Resonate.

Check out these crazy facts-

  • By 2025 two-thirds of the world’s population may face water shortages. Yikes.

  • It’s estimated that around 20% of industrial water pollution in the world comes from the treatment and dyeing of textiles, and about 8,000 synthetic chemicals are used to turn raw materials into textiles. For example:

  • Three years worth of drinking water is used in making just one t-shirt! That’s 2,700 litres. Obviously this is a fact gathered from mass manufacture from growing the cotton to bleaching the yarn to the final wash before being sold - yes, totally unbelievable.

  • Only 2.5% of the Earth’s water is freshwater and only 0.3% is accessible to humans. Scarcity of freshwater is the problem, as turning salt water back to freshwater is expensive. Freshwater is 'expensive' yet to us in the developed world, it's free.

  • More than half the world’s wetlands have disappeared. Lakes, Rivers, Seas!

By using existing fabrics all the water used to make fabrics into product is

S A V E D!

What's next?

If we (as part of a F A M I L Y that is fast growing) choose N O T to buy a new t-shirt the brand will see less sales and gradually reduce it's manufacture, or will be forced into new (sustainable) ways and technologies. Are you thinking someone else will buy it instead? Your one decision won’t make a difference? But wait, you're not just one voice you're a driving force, an inspiration, you'll plant one seed and grow a huge Tree. Your voice will empower others, and join thousands who are already making this decision already.
